The research topic of my Master's thesis is the simulation of light scattering in different types of scattering media, using Monte-Carlo simulations with individual photons. The main target is biological tissues, specifically the white matter of the brain due to the strictly ordered nature of the individual fibers. Potential future applications are the early detection of cancerous cells in healthy white matter.
